Plymouth Housing Breaks Ground on New Development in Redmond
On October 1, 2025 Plymouth Housing broke ground on a new Permanent Supportive Housing development in the heart of Redmond, WA. This development will provide 100 homes for individuals exiting homelessness who earn 0-30% of the Area Median Income (up to $28,800 per year in Redmond). The development will be complete with on-site health services, case management, and 24/7 staffing - an important step forward in addressing chronic homelessness in East King County. This project underscores the power of ARCH’s coalition and regional coordination to build permanent supportive housing.
According to the 2024 Point-in-Time Count, 1,910 people experienced homelessness in East King County. With emergency shelters often at capacity, Redmond and other Eastside communities face a growing need for housing that serves adults with complex needs.
ARCH was proud to be the first funder to commit resources to the project, setting aside $3 million to an early version of the project in 2022. The City of Redmond was an essential partner to the project, contributing land and funding to cement the project’s success. A Community Advisory Group, composed of business owners, neighbors, city officials, faith leaders, nonprofits, those with lived experience of homelessness or housing insecurity, and local school representatives, has helped steer this project. They are meeting on a regular basis to set this development up for success.
Other critical partners helped this project come to fruition, including Microsoft, OneRedmond, HopeLink, The Sophia Way, and others. Many of these partners attended the October groundbreaking ceremony, where speakers such as Redmond Mayor Angela Birney and leaders from Enterprise Community Partners, ARCH, the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, and Microsoft highlighted the urgent need for permanent supportive housing and the power of collaboration. During the ceremony, Jane Broom, Senior Director of Microsoft Philanthropies, shared that Plymouth’s development is “such a great example of what we need jurisdictions from all over King County to do. Microsoft is a proud Redmond-based company today.”
ARCH’s vision is that “East King County is a thriving, inclusive community where the housing needs of people of all income levels are met.” Plymouth Housing’s Redmond development brings our region closer to realizing that vision. On October 1, 2025, ARCH was honored to celebrate the partnerships and leadership that made this monumental groundbreaking possible. Plymouth is looking forward to opening the project in mid-2027.
