The Mercer Island Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) program allows homeowners the opportunity to develop a second (accessory) housing unit upon their property, under regulations developed by the City. This is an effective way to increase affordable housing without requiring public support. Mercer Island's ADU program created 167 ADUs between 1995 and 2002, more than the number created by any other Eastside city. |
